Alton III v Liss: LISS batted first but with usual opener Kemp away Brownlee stepped up to start with Pleace junior.

It did not take long for Alton to make the breakthrough with Pleace junior being given out leg before wicket without scoring.

Gough and Brownlee were looking pretty solid but Pein trapped Brownlee leg before wicket and Liss were 22-2.

Cowell was in next and looked to continue his good form. With Gough, the pair started to knock the ball around nicely before Gough was run out for 18. Liss were 57-3 at the halfway stage and lost two wickets in four overs to find themselves 60-5.

Cowell brought up his half-century and added 39 with Allcock before Allcock was caught for 21 chasing a full toss. Pein took two wickets in as many balls to leave Liss on 110-8, and the visitors were then bowled out for 127.

The Alton openers took advantage of any full deliveries and punished the bowlers back past them. Hughes was looking to make light work of the chase and picked up boundaries when he could.

After 13 overs Alton were 47-0 and looked comfortable in their chase. Hughes then hit a drive and James Small ran round to make a diving stop, landed and screamed.

Small had caught his studs in the ground and had a broken and dislocated ankle.

The game was on hold while the ambulance arrived. A change in bowling brought Cowell and Pleace senior into the attack, and Pleace senior had Billington stumped for 28.

Matty Evans dismissed Hughes for 59, but Alton won the game in the next over.
