Elsted v Havant Wednesday: ELSTED won the toss and decided to bat first.
They lost Andy Wadey without scoring but Rob Norris and Terry Wadey rallied.
Both batsmen featured in a plethora of boundaries as the Havant attack was taken to task. This productive partnership yielded 80 runs before Norris was caught for 45.
T Wadey fell for 36 and Jake Wadey went cheaply for four, but Simon Kyte found a useful partner in Ben Turk, and their partnership flourished at a cracking rate.
Kyte soon reached his half-century, and the Havant attack had difficulty in stemming the flow of runs. Kyte reached his century, while Turk reached his half-century. After their 35 overs Elsted had amassed 255-4, and Kyte and Turk had put on an unbeaten stand of 123 runs.
Martin Hovey was very severe on the young Elsted bowlers and got Havant’s reply off to a cracking start.
Hovey soon reached his half-century but Elsted broke through when the score was 69, when Turk had Collins caught for nine.
Turk followed this up by accounting for Andrews, but Hovey was still at the crease, and he and Gary Hounsome rallied their side by adding 59 runs before Hovey was dismissed for a fine century.
Shortly afterwards Hounsome was run out for 22, and apart from S Robinson the Havant batsmen struggled in their quest for runs.
It was left to man-of-the-match Kyte to secure victory by 19 runs, when he took two wickets in his solitary over.
So in a match which amassed 491 runs, Elsted gained an exciting victory.
