Hawkley v IBM: THE VISITORS won the toss and chose to bat first.

Hawkley struck in the first over when home captain Hallam Brown took a sharp slip catch to dismiss IBM’s Tate off the bowling of Seamus Evans. Nick Hudson dismissed Lowe and Lee in his second over and then S Evans bowled Vutukuri to leave IBM four wickets down after six overs with only three runs on the board.

Sharma came to IBM’s rescue, striking a six and seven fours before he was bowled by Rory Evans for 48. Sam Mullard picked up two victims and Ed Peel and Brown claimed a wicket each as IBM were all out for 117.

Hawkley’s innings got off to a bad start when Viv Evans was bowled by Hicks in the first over and Peel fell to the same bowler two overs later.

Paul Cross and Brown steadied the ship, and after Cross was out for 17, Brown and Clive Hopkin took the score to 46 before Brown fell to Tate.

Barry Allison, Magan Singodia and R Evans all batted patiently, but wickets continued to fall and IBM sensed victory when Mullard was out first ball with the score on 76. IBM turned to their opening bowlers to get the final wicket, but S Evans and Hudson held on for five overs to salvage a draw.
