Hartley Wintney v Liphook & Ripsley: LIPHOOK and Ripsley fielded a much-changed side for their second game away to Hartley Witney in successive days, which did not prevent them going down by 41 runs in the first round of the Southern Premier Cricket League T20 competition.
James Beckwith (37) and Jason Knibbs (40) put on 62 for the second wicket for the hosts, after Steve White’s fine juggled catch dismissed opener Hugo Hammond for eight off the bowling of off-spinner Harry Munt.
Thereafter, the home side’s batting was little troubled in reaching 158-6. Chaz Janczur (2-31) hit the stumps twice late on for Liphook and there was also one wicket each for Andy Barnes (1-40), Dave Oliver (1-22) and Tom Wild (1-36).
For Liphook, the wickets of Janczur, Barnes and Anthony White fell early, putting the visitors on the back foot.
Only when Grant Rouse (20) and George Neave (31) put on 53 in 21 balls for the fourth wicket did Liphook look like chasing the runs.
However, after both were dismissed with the total on 68, there was limited resistance, in spite of 17 each from Oscar Amis and skipper Sean Burton.
