Hursley Park v Liphook & Ripsley: LIPHOOK and Ripsley reached the next round of the National Village Cup with an emphatic and comfortable 96-run victory at Hursley Park on Sunday.
The visitors got off to an excellent start as Ryan Covey and Rob Nicklin put on 97 for the first wicket to lay the foundations for Liphook’s victory.
Nicklin then fell for an attacking 56, which included seven fours and two sixes.
Mike Brimble bowled Gabriel Broadhurst for a duck, and George Neave was run out for 16, before Covey fell for an impressive 63.
Jack Campbell kept Liphook’s momentum going with an unbeaten 59 off 48 balls as the visitors finished on 221-8 at the end of their allotted 40 overs.
Liphook got off to a perfect start in the field when George Neave dismissed Paul Marks for a duck.
Sean Burton then dismissed Tom Flynn for nine and Matt Musgrove for a duck to leave the hosts 37-3.
Aaron Williams (29) and skipper Nick Turner (29) were the only home batsmen to make an impression, and off-spinner Dave Oliver made the key breakthrough when he bowled Williams.
Oliver (4-28) and Burton (3-37) then ran through the home side’s middle order to leave Hursley Park 87-8.
Charles Prendergast hit a quickfire 18 before he was dismissed by Charles Janczur (1-7) as the home side were bowled out for 125.
Liphook will be away to Bramshaw, in the next round, on Sunday, May 27, at 1pm.
