Bashley (Rydal) v Liphook & Ripsley: DIVISION 1 Liphook and Ripsley came within a whisker of a shock Southern League T20 win away to Premier Division Bashley (Rydal).

The Ripsley Park outfit managed to grab defeat from the jaws of victory, as a dramatic late batting collapse turned the game on its head.

George Neave wrecked home skipper Michael Porter’s stumps in the third over, and from then on good ground fielding and steady bowling from Liphook limited Bashley to a modest 139-9.

Debutant Tom Wild caught the eye (1-17), with Daniel Harvey claiming 3-20. There were also two wickets each for Harry Munt (2-19) and Quincy Stephens (2-24). Tim Taylor (41) top scored for the home side.

With the support of Neave (14) and Grant Rouse (22), opener Munt led the charge on the Bashley total with an impressive half-century.

When Munt fell for 50 the visitors still had more than five overs and six wickets in hand to get just 26 runs. The inexperienced Liphook batting line-up was badly exposed though, as Watkins (3-16) and spinner Sam Presland (3-16) limited Liphook to 135-9, just five runs short of victory.
