Rowledge v Liphook & Ripsley: LIPHOOK and Ripsley won an incident-packed game at Rowledge on Sunday in the Southern Premier Cricket League Twenty20 Cup.

Rowledge seamer Steve Martin took his first ever hat-trick in one dramatic four-wicket over, almost saving his side from what should have been a clear defeat, finishing with 5-18 in four overs.

Rowledge had scored 110-7 in their innings. Jake Austin top scored with 27, while Liphook left arm spinner Dave Elliott claimed impressive figures of 3-19.

In reply, Liphook were struggling at 14-3 but a stand of 90 between Chris Martin (58) and Rob Nicklin (31) put Liphook in firm control – until S Martin came on as the fourth change bowler.

He bowled Nicklin with the first ball of the 14th over, in which he also dismissed namesake C Martin caught by Jamie Teale, and trapped Richard Covey and George Neave leg before wicket in successive deliveries.

Somewhat nervously, Liphook edged towards their target, with S Martin able to claim only one further victim. Liphook finished on 111-8 and won by two wickets.
