Liphook & Ripsley v Hursley Park: HURSLEY Park, winners of the Cricketer National Village Cup in 1992, came up against last season’s Lord’s finalists, Liphook and Ripsley, on Sunday afternoon, but were defeated by eight wickets at Ripsley Park.

Liphook got off to a good start in the field, with Charles Janczur (1-24) dismissing Nick Turner for two.

Scott Hills (14) and Lee Wateridge (21) both reached double figures, but George Neave (2-36) and Dave Elliott (1-28) took three wickets between them to leave Hursley Park struggling on 82-4.

Hursley’s total was set up by opener Tom Flynn (57), who shared in a 50-run partnership with Dylan Croucher (eight), but wickets continued to fall steadily after both had gone with the score on 133-6.

Liphook’s Rob Nicklin (4-21) helped limit the visitors to 169 all out with a late spell of off spin, taking four of the last five Hursley wickets.

Jai Solanki (16) was the other Hursley Park batsman to reach double figures.

Sean Burton (1-28) and Harry Munt (1-24) were the other Liphook wicket takers, while Grant Rouse claimed four catches in the field.

In reply, Nicklin (57) and Chris Martin (43) played freely as they put on 85 for the first wicket.

Number three Harry Munt (43 not out) and 16-year-old Anthony White (17 not out) finished undefeated as the Hursley total was overhauled with five overs to spare.

Turner (1-21) and Rory Tennant (1-20) were the Hursley Park wicket takers.
