Liphook and Ripsley III v Whitchurch II: AFTER Liphook won the toss and elected to bowl first, opening bowlers Connor Welfare and Max Chaplin carried on where they left off last week with some fine bowling that left Whitchurch reeling at 12-2 and 20-3.
When the next two wickets fell in quick succession, Whitchurch were 45-5 and in trouble.
Whitchurch opening batsman Jack Dancer started to open up and, with support from James Hayward (17), Michael Ferris (11) and Jack Rickard (14), was eventually the last man out for 75 with the score on an improbable 138, as Liphook rued their inability to take the last few wickets.
Liphook opened their innings and got off to a disastrous start with Dave Coombes and Welfare back in the pavilion with the score on 2-2.
John Strong (32) and James Cansfield (34) then showed Liphook how batting should be done as they added 70 in 24 overs.
There was little support from other members of the team, and while Nick Cansfield (eight), Max Chaplain (nine), Anthony White (10 not out) and Dylan Grimes (seven) scored some useful runs, Liphook ended 20 runs short of their target.
