Liss v Ramsdell: LISS’ bad run of form continued with a home defeat to Ramsdell.

After heavy rain Liss were asked to bat on a damp track.

The visitors used the conditions well and bowled accurately from the start, and the early dismissal of Austin put Liss on the back foot.

Kemp tried to attack and hit a flurry of big strokes before he was caught for 29 to leave Liss on 39-2. The wickets then continued to fall.

Pleace and Hannam put on 28 but when Hannam was bowled for eight Liss were 78-8. The lower order tried to stay with Pleace, who finished on 65 not out as Liss were bowled out for 145.

Liss needed early wickets and Blanks struck twice inside the first ten overs.

Runs were being restricted and with Blanks’ third wicket left the visitors struggling on 31-3.

Burrows started to knock the ball around well, and a change in bowling brought Hedicker and Moore into the attack. Hedicker bowled well but could not make the breakthrough.

A dropped catch let Burrows off the hook, and he started to make Liss pay.

Austin was brought on to bowl to take the pace off.

After a few loose deliveries he managed to turn the ball past Burrows, dismissing him for 35 to leave Ramsdell on 94-4.

Holbrook came to the crease and went on the attack immediately.

His flurry of boundaries quickly took the game away from Liss and, despite Austin picking up a second wicket, took Ramsdell to victory in the 30th over.
