Liss v Bishop’s Waltham II: BISHOP’S Waltham won the toss and elected to bat first.
Opening bowlers Blanks and Charles started well and Charles bowled Carrs for a duck in the fourth over.
A change of bowling saw the extra pace of Pearce and movement of Cowell cause immediate problems.
Opener Wymbs then tried to put his foot down with a series of boundaries but the pressure was building.
Cowell then struck twice in one over with Pone being caught for 28 and Corder going second delivery.
Wymbs looked to be the batsman to get the score moving but he was the next to go with Cowell’s third wicket quickly followed by Pearce taking his first.
Pearce’s pace was too much and he picked up his second wicket but some big hitting towards the end carried the score past 125 before Blanks and Moore took the final four wickets, bowling Bishop’s Waltham out for 127.
Pleace and Robson were first up for Liss and scored 13 runs from the first ten overs.
The total reached 20 before Robson fell for 14, quickly followed by Pearce for four and Kemp for a duck.
At 25-3 the pressure was on the hosts. The ball was nipping around and the batsmen were finding it difficult, and just ten more runs added before Moore was bowled.
Pearce and Pleace got a partnership going and Liss required 40 more runs from the last 15 overs. Pleace was dismissed for 39, but Blanks took Liss past 100.
With just ten runs needed Blanks was caught for 24, but Pearce took Liss over the line with a valuable 28.
