Southampton Community v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD lost the toss and were asked to field first by the home side.
Joe Clarke (0-34) bowled well, but it was Jack Butcher (1-47) who picked up the first wicket with the score on 20.
Henry Shore (2-45) took two wickets, and Chris Russell (4-46) bowled a fine spell as Southampton Community slumped to 152-8.
The home side’s tail then wagged to good effect as Southampton Community finished on 237-9.
Jake Hastie (23) and Shore (nine) got off to a slow start before Shore gloved the opening bowler through to the wicketkeeper. Hastie put away the bad balls beautifully before he was bowled with the score on 44.
Dave Marshall (82 not out) and Russell (46) then put on 122 for the third wicket as they batted sensibly, keeping the scoreboard moving with quick singles and the occasional crisp cover drive.
With 15 overs left Petersfield needed seven-and-a-half runs an over, with Southampton Community trying to put the squeeze on.
Russell and Marshall started to accelerate before Russell was given out caught behind.
Hans Mai (31) then joined skipper Marshall at the crease with the game in the balance, with the required rate at seven an over.
The pair put the Southampton bowling to the sword as they took full advantage of the tiredness of the bowlers.
Mai was caught and bowled with only eight needed from four overs, but Marshall hit the winning runs in the 44th over.
