Petersfield v Old Basing: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team slipped to a 59-run defeat at home to Old Basing on Saturday afternoon in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League, despite Dave Marshall’s best efforts.

The visitors batted first and were bowled out for a formidable 310 in the 45th over, with Josh Weir top scoring with 66.

Hans Mai (2-46), Finn Campbell (1-43), skipper Frank Straw (1-71), Chris Wood (2-64), Marshall (1-29) and Harvey Baker (1-26) were the Petersfield wicket takers, with the other two wickets being run outs.

Petersfield were not daunted by Old Basing’s impressive total and scored a more than respectable 251-5 off their allotted 45 overs.

Opener Marshall carried his bat with a superb 100 not out, and Straw (26), Campbell (40) and Christie Salmon (55) also added quick runs as the home side put up a good showing.
