Froxfield v Emsworth: FROXFIELD may have lost this game against top of the table Emsworth but this game will be remembered by all players and spectators for one of the most brutal innings seen in County Division 4 South of the Hampshire Cricket League this season by Froxfield batsman Reagan McLean.

Having won the toss on a glorious summer’s day, home skipper Jordan Hiscock elected to field first, a decision which backfired as Emsworth racked up 304-5.

Clive Brailey and Hallam Brown picked up two wickets a piece, with Hiscock taking the other wicket.

Froxfield came out after tea knowing it would take something special to challenge the target, and although they couldn’t achieve this, something special certainly happened.

McLean struck five of his first six balls for six on his way to a 13-ball half-century, and although he lost partner Toby Barnett for 11, 64 runs were already on the board after just six-and-a-half overs.

More batsman came and went cheaply but McLean carried on his onslaught, reaching his century from only 46 deliveries and his 150 from 68 balls before finally succumbing for a stunning 154 which included 12 fours and 14 huge sixes.

Nobody else in the Froxfield line up got going with just Sam Barnett (15) and Steve Singleton (16) reaching double figures as the hosts were bowled out for 219 with ten overs still left to bat.

A disappointing end for Froxfield to a game that will live long in the memory.
