Rowledge v Liphook & Ripsley: LIPHOOK and Ripsley completed their Southern Premier Cricket League Division 1 programme with an emphatic 52-run victory which meant they finished a very respectable fourth but confirmed relegation for neighbours Rowledge.

The home side started well enough, pinning back Liphook to 41-4 thanks to a fine spell of swing and seam movement by Joe Randall (4-49).

However, the game was turned on its head by a fifth-wicket partnership of 141 between Harry Munt (48) and 19-year-old George Neave, whose free scoring 124 off 110 balls included 13 fours and three sixes.

Neave batted with composure beyond his years, playing shots all around the wicket.

On 95 not out and with the seamers back on, Neave brought up his century with a huge sweep which sailed over the fence on to the bowling green and brought a huge ovation from his fellow Liphook players.

Liphook’s total of 242-9 was always too much, and once skipper Chaz Janczur (2-29) removed the dangerous Treble the game looked beyond the hosts.

Suman Ganguly (2-34) and Ryan Covey (1-19) had Rowledge reeling at 60-5, and despite an accomplished 72 from David Lloyd and a patient 35 from Max Martin, the home side were bowled out for 190, with Dave Elliott claiming 3-41.

Another fine victory for Liphook which brings an end to a successful season for the team.
