The side have suffered successive relegations and new captain Max Chaplin had an inexperienced team making the journey to Basingstoke.
With Connor Welfare out for a golden duck, John Strong (29) and Ian Welfare (42) dug deep and put on 68 for the second wicket before Strong became the first of three stumpings off the bowling of Callum Doran. The remaining batsmen managed 58 between them, with only Nick Cansfield (12) and Steve White (10) reaching double figures. The Liphook innings had lasted for just 30 overs.
Callum Doran did most of the damage, recording figures of 7-29, but ultimately it was a pandemic of ill-discipline that ran through the Liphook side with all of the batsmen getting out to shots that they should have defended.
Harry Robson (29) and Hook captain Vinny Gardner (68 not out) put on 75 for the first Hook wicket, but Robson was the only wicket to fall – some reward for C Welfare for toiling in the heat.
