Petersfield v Basingstoke & North Hants III: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team continued their good start to the season with an 11-run victory against Basingstoke and North Hants’ third team at the Heath on Saturday in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League.

Petersfield were asked to bat first, and Archie Norris (65) and skipper Damian Carson (53) got the hosts off to a fine start with a 134-run partnership for the first wicket.

Andy Barnes (seven), Henry Shore (nought) and Dominic Carson (15) all fell cheaply as Petersfield slipped to 171-5, but Ben Turk (32 not out) and Alex Thomas (20) wrestled back the momentum for the hosts with a 42-run partnership for the sixth wicket in quick time.

Petersfield finished their 45 overs on a competitive total of 229-6.

Petersfield picked up wickets at regular intervals to reduce the visitors to 133-8. Dave Marshall (2-20), Barnes (2-40), Ben Anscombe (2-60), Damian Carson (1-18) and Ed Bayliss (1-48) were the Petersfield wicket takers.

Keith Harsham (87 not out) and Ben Firrell (13 not out) added 85 runs for the ninth wicket to take the visitors to 218-8, as Petersfield won by 11 runs.
