Petersfield v Steep: PETERSFIELD claimed the bragging rights as they beat Steep by 19 runs at the Heath in County Division 3 North of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday.

Petersfield batted first and lost Jake Hastie early on for five, but Henry Shore (35) and Dave Marshall (26) both made decent contributions to get the innings going.

Jack Wrenn and Ben Anscombe both fell cheaply, but Tom Sherry (36) and Frank Straw (45) scored vital runs as Petersfield finished on 189-8 at the end of their allotted 45 overs.

Dave Greetham (1-45), John Smith (3-40), Alex Bone (2-27) and Stuart Smith (2-22) were the Steep wicket takers.

Steep’s reply got off to a shaky start, as Tom McCubbin, Dean Knight, Alex Bone and Dale Collins all fell cheaply, with Hans Mai (2-19) and Oscar Amis (2-32) doing the damage for Petersfield.

S Smith (52) and Greetham (62) both scored half-centuries, but S Smith was run out and Greetham was dismissed by Anscombe – who then took the other four wickets to finish with fine figures of 5-35, as Steep were bowled out for 170.

Petersfield have now won four matches out of four so far this season.
