Petersfield v Basingstoke & North Hants III: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club lost a close match against Basingstoke and North Hants’ third team by one wicket on Saturday afternoon.

The home side batted first and opening batsmen James Stratford-Tuke (14) and Frank Straw (25) put on 42 for the first wicket before both fell in quick succession.

Petersfield then continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and Finn Campbell (13), Ben Turk (12) and Bablu Karthick (12) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures as the home side were bowled out for 91 in the 37th over.

Andy Neal (5-17), Ben Firrell (3-13), Rob Bowen (1-17) and Michael Vinn (1-36) were the wicket takers for the visitors.

Defending only 91 Petersfield needed something special in the field, and captain Straw stepped up to the mark with a superb spell of 5-16 from ten overs.

Oscar Amis also took 3-19 off eight overs to leave Basingstoke and North Hants in real trouble.

Finn Campbell (1-11) took the ninth wicket, but Ak Sankaranarayanan (11 not out) and Michael Vinn saw the visitors through to a nervy one-wicket victory after 27 overs.
