Liss v Petersfield: LISS hosted Petersfield in their first league game of the season on Saturday.
Liss won the toss and elected to bat, but Petersfield made an early breakthrough when Jacob Hedicker was bowled by Joe Clarke for one.
Phil Moore came to the crease and soon found his rhythm, but wickets continued to fall at the other end. Moore and Rice added 38, but Rice was then caught off Ed Cropley’s bowling.
Cropley finished with fine figures of 5-15 as Liss were bowled out for 104. Moore top scored with 43.
Hedicker and Lawrence Baker opened the bowling for Liss and Hedicker made the breakthrough in the ninth over when he dismissed Henry Shore for 15. Baker then struck when he dismissed Marshall for one.
Baker (2-16) struck again two overs later when a superb catch behind the stumps by Henry Austin dismissed opener Jake Hastie for 16. Petersfield were 40-3 and it was game on.
Dan Dillon-Thiselton took two wickets in quick succession when he bowled Chris Russell for three and dismissed Hans Mai for a duck to leave Petersfield on 46-5 from 21 overs.
Dillon-Thiselton took his third wicket in the 27th over when Tom Sherry was caught by Cam Clarke for 20, and Liam Charles then bowled Frank Straw for five.
Rich Stephens and Cropley took Petersfield towards their target, but with the scores tied Moore dismissed Stephens for ten. Nathan Barlow and Cropley (ten not out) then saw Petersfield home to a two-wicket win.
