Liss v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD claimed the bragging rights as they beat Liss by 72 runs on Saturday.

Liss lost the toss and were put into the field on an unsettled and windy day.

Petersfield lost their first wicket early with Liam Charles having Henry Shore caught behind for nine.

A partnership of 45 was formed between Ben Anscombe and Dave Marshall before wicketkeeper Henry Austin caught Marshall for 16 off Phil Moore’s bowling.

Anscombe was the next to fall for 62 as he was caught by Richard Pleace in the slips. Jacob Hedicker bowled well and finished with figures of 3-26 as Petersfield ended their innings on 200-8.

Liss started off badly in their reply, losing captain Pleace, Moore and Jack Hannam in the third over to Oscar Windebank’s bowling, leaving the home side on 6-3.

Toby Austin could only watch from the non-striker’s end as his team mates came and went, and Cam Clarke fell to Windebank for two.

T Austin and Shaun Blanks looked to settle things down for Liss, and the pair put on a partnership of 35 before T Austin fell for 25.

Liss then lost Blanks (16) and Henry Austin in quick succession as they crashed to 58-7.

Chris Allcock and Hedicker added 40 more runs before Allcock was caught for 27, and Hedicker and Charles added 23 runs before Windebank had Hedicker caught for 19 to complete his five-wicket haul (5-27).

Anscombe finished the innings off, having Charles caught for 15 as Liss were bowled out for 128.
