Ferndown Wayfarers v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team fell to a convincing 69-run defeat away at Ferndown Wayfarers on Saturday afternoon in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League.
The home side batted first and got off to a good start as openers Chris Armstrong and Will Sansom put on 55 for the first wicket, before Sansom was dismissed by Finn Campbell for 12.
Armstrong went past his half-century and was dismissed when he was caught and bowled by Joe Clarke for 61.
James Raftery (24) and Eric Linge (48) also added useful runs as the hosts were bowled out for 223 in the 43rd over.
Campbell (3-40), Ben Anscombe (2-44), Clarke (1-35), captain Frank Straw (3-45)?and Dave Marshall (1-19) were the Petersfield wicket takers.
Petersfield’s reply got off to a bad start as they slipped to 20-3 with Marshall (four), Campbell (four) and Ben Turk (one) all back in the pavilion.
Straw (56), Tom Sherry (39) and Ben Anscombe (28 not out) led the recovery, but another collapse saw the last four wickets fall for 14 runs and Petersfield were bowled out for 154 in the 37th over.
