Hursley Park II v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD fell to an emphatic eight-wicket defeat away at Hursley Park’s second team in County Division 3 North of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday afternoon.
Petersfield’s innings got off to a shaky start as top four batsmen Henry Shore (four), Ben Anscombe (nine), Tom Sherry (nought) and Frank Straw (eight) all fell cheaply.
Chris Russell rescued the innings with 53 not out, but he received little support from the other end as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
Mark Butcher fell for five, and Oscar Amis was dismissed for a duck. Nick Cox was dismissed for 13, and Jack Butcher was run out for one. Harvey Baker fell for six, and Mike Macinaro was the last man out when he was bowled for a duck.
Aaron Williams (3-12), Mike Brimble (4-29) and Euan Kennedy (2-12) were the wicket takers as the visitors were bowled out for 116 in the 42nd over.
Petersfield needed early wickets, and Straw (1-5) bowled Chris Crook for nine.
Amis (1-22) dismissed Tom Prouton for 22, but Richard O’Brien (32 not out) and Williams (45 not out) knocked off the runs for the home side in the 23rd over.
