Petersfield v Bournemouth II: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team won a tight encounter with Bournemouth’s second team at the Heath on Saturday, winning by three wickets with just four balls to spare.

Correctly guessing the toss and opting to bat first on a dry, cracked wicket with uneven bounce, Bournemouth reached 217-8 off their 45 overs with three wickets apiece for Dave Marshall (3-53) and Ben Turk (3-30).

In reply, captain Damian Carson (73) and Dominic Carson (50) set a solid foundation before a mini-collapse took place, with the skipper falling to a brilliant catch by Luke Germon.

With the pressure mounting it was left to Andy Barnes (30) and then Alex Thomas (30 not out) to take Field home in a frantic finale, judging the run chase to perfection.

The win moves Petersfield up to third place in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League.
