Petersfield v Easton & Martyr Worthy: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team crashed to a seven-wicket defeat at home to Easton and Martyr Worthy on Saturday afternoon in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League.

The home side batted first and got off to a solid start as openers Dave Marshall and Frank Straw put on 43 for the first wicket before Marshall was dismissed for 14.

Straw followed soon afterwards for 25, and wickets continued to fall at regular intervals as Petersfield slipped to 85-8.

Hans Mai (20) and Joe Clarke (18 not out) added 44 for the ninth wicket to give the score some respectability, and a run out meant Petersfield were eventually bowled out for 133 in the 44th over.

Brad Hole (3-28) and Matt Chamberlain (4-22) were the pick of the Easton and Martyr Worthy bowlers.

Petersfield claimed an early wicket in the field when Finn Campbell (1-29) bowled Jamie Banks for 12.

Captain Straw (2-25) helped himself to two wickets, but opening batsman Spencer Lee (52 not out) and Arthur Lee (ten not out) saw the visitors home to victory in the 33rd over.
