Ramsdell v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD slipped to their first defeat of the season as they lost by three wickets at Ramsdell in County Division 3 North of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday afternoon.

Petersfield’s innings got off to a poor start as Dave Marshall, Jake Hastie, Ben Anscombe and Jack Wrenn all fell cheaply to leave the visitors on 39-4. Will Shore and Tom Sherry then added 41 together, before Shore fell for 22.

When Frank Straw fell for four Petersfield were 85-6, but Sherry rescued the innings as he blasted 132 not out off 95 balls.

Richard Stephens (12) and Hans Mai (18) added valuable support as Petersfield scored 249-8 off their allotted 45 overs.

Ramsdell openers Paul Burrows and Gary Clark put on a 63-run partnership for the first wicket, before Stephens (2-31) made the breakthrough and dismissed Clark for 16. The visitors then continued to take wickets at regular intervals, with Mai (1-47), Straw (2-61) and Anscombe (2-27) doing the damage.

Burrows (90) held Ramsdell’s innings together though, and Tom Holbrook (one not out) and Sam Holbrook (four not out) saw the hosts through to victory.
