Petersfield II v Oakley II: TOP OF the table Oakley eventually arrived at the Heath after getting lost on the way to the ground.

Petersfield won the toss and elected to bat as they had been shorn of their opening bowlers due to unavailability and some players being promoted to the first team.

Petersfield’s innings got off to a poor start as opener Squires went first ball as he chased a wide ball and was caught at backward point.

Chris Russell (32) and Nathan Barlow (three) then had the scoreboard moving until Barlow went with the score on 28. Oscar Amis (one) watched Russell score freely at the other end before he got a rising delivery outside off stump and could only guide the ball to gully.

Russell and Mark Butcher (16) took the score to 72, and the pair looked comfortable before they were both removed by Spalding (4-3).

Only Jack Butcher (nine not out) then looked comfortable and Petersfield were bowled out for 85 in the 26th over, the last seven wickets falling for just 13 runs.

Oakley got off to a frenetic start with a couple of nice shots before skipper Steve Gibson picked up three wickets in five deliveries, having Savage (five) caught at backward point before Brundle and Lethenby fell for ducks to leave Oakley 9-3.

Opener Tiley (22) and Spalding (27 not out) saw Oakley to 47 before Tiley was bowled by Ed Bayliss (1-6).

Spalding saw Oakley home comfortably in the end, the visitors only losing one more wicket to round off a clinical victory in the 23rd over.
