Compton v Petersfield II: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s second team earned an emphatic nine-wicket victory at Compton on Saturday in Regional Division 1 South of the Hampshire Cricket League.

Petersfield fielded first and produced a fine performance to bowl the hosts out for 127 in just the 26th over. Petersfield skipper Frank Straw (5-12) did most of the damage, but Chris Russell (3-19) and Omar Iqbal (2-18) were also in the wickets. Greg Turner (71) top scored for Compton, but no other home batsman reached 20.

Dave Squires and Christie Salmon opened the batting for Petersfield, and Turner (1-9) continued his impressive individual performance as he dismissed Squires for just five to leave Petersfield 14-1. Salmon (41 not out) was joined at the crease by Russell (65 not out), and the pair controlled the run chase as the visitors cruised to a nine-wicket win.

Petersfield’s second team will host Steep’s second team at the Heath on Saturday.
