Petersfield II v Odiham & Greywell II: PETERSFIELD’S second team crashed to another defeat as they lost by nine wickets on another sun drenched day at a parched Heath.

Stand-in skipper Dave Squires won the toss and elected to bat first.

The innings did not get off to a good start as Petersfield slipped to 16-5 against some accurate Odiham bowling.

Only David Evans (four) showed any real fight as the top order faltered.

D Evans had been hit in the shoulder but he continued to get on to the front foot before he got another delivery that reared up and took his top edge.

Oscar Windebank (three) and Fergus Evans (seven) took the score to 24 before spinner Ed Bayliss (34 not out) arrived at the crease and proceeded to score his highest league score for the club with some crisp shots off the Odiham spinners.

Mark Holloway (nine) joined Bayliss at the crease and joined in the boundary scoring until Sanjay Arulchelvam (3-7) dismissed him leg before wicket.

Petersfield just failed to get a batting bonus point as the last two wickets fell in two balls in the 29th over and the home side were bowled out for 73.

Odiham set about the task of scoring the runs quickly, but Bayliss (1-27) and Windebank (0-19) caused them a few issues with some good bowling.

Skipper Ed Hellings (34 not out) and David Hiscock (24 not out) got the runs required in the 14th over to complete a comprehensive victory for the visitors.
