Crown Taverners v Petersfield II: PETERSFIELD’S second team travelled to Crown Taverners for their first away game of the season.

With a bowling-heavy side, skipper Steve Gibson chose to field and the decision looked to be a good one as Crown Taverners were reduced to 2-2 as Oscar Windebank (2-26) and Harvey Baker (2-39) removed two of the top three for no score.

James Walters (29) and Mo Nyamunfa (15) rebuilt the innings, before both went in consecutive overs to Gibson (1-37) and Chris Wood (1-18).

Crown Taverners were 60-4 and Petersfield were on top at this point, but the visitors did not count on Paul Emmerson (81) and Suneel Koul (31) putting on a 118-run partnership before Koul was bowled by Rich Stephens (1-28).

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals but the damage had been done and Crown Taverners made it to 222-9 off 40 overs despite losing two wickets in the last over of the innings due to a run out and Rob Allerston (1-3) picking up a wicket.

Petersfield’s reply got off to a disastrous start as they were reduced to 16-4 by Clark Bannister (2-7) and G Hayhoe (2-8).

Stephens (17) and Allerston (13) got the score to 47 before Allerston was unluckily bowled off his boot.

Stephens then miss-timed a shot to mid-wicket, and Jack Butcher soon followed as he came and went for a duck. Windebank (34) and Gibson (16) hit some lusty blows but Petersfield were bowled out for 101 in the 27th over.
