Petersfield II v Old Netley & Highfield: PETERSFIELD’S second team played Old Netley and Highfield at the Heath on Saturday.
Petersfield won the toss and elected to bat first in overcast conditions. The visitors’ opening bowlers used the conditions well, moving the ball in the air and off the seam, and Dave Squires (4) and Chris Russell (4) struggled to get the bowlers away.
Jake Hastie (51) scored a maiden half-century for the club and along with Andy Butcher (15) started to build some momentum before Butcher was out trying to counter attack.
A middle-order batting collapse followed with William Shore (7), Jack Butcher (0), Nathan Barlow (1) and Wayne Renney (0) all departing.
Only Hastie put up any resistance along with Rich Stephens (8 not out).
Ben Schwarz (5-24) was the pick of the attack and Petersfield were all out for 112.
Old Netley started quickly before Stephens (1-25) and Barlow (2-51) reduced the visitors to 24-2.
Ben Charrett and Ben Slade then put on 50 for the third wicket. Petersfield had some hope when they both fell quickly but Dan Czaiki (29 not out) saw Old Netley home.
