St Cross Symondians IV v Petersfield II: PETERSFIELD skipper Steve Gibson won the toss and elected to field first.

Opening bowlers Oscar Windebank and Harvey Baker bowled tightly without reward, but Rich Stephens (2-27) struck when Mark Padwick (40) edged behind to keeper Mark Butcher. Chris Russell (3-45) dismissed Ben Stewart (28), and Chris Preston (20) took the score to 111 before he was bowled by Russell.

Jack Soper (26) and Joe Holt (27) hit out and got the scoreboard moving, before Windebank (2-26) and Baker (1-29) returned and restricted the score to 209-9.

Petersfield needed a good start, and they got it as openers Rich Stephens (26) and Dave Squires (41) put on the first 50-run opening partnership for two seasons.

The pair put away the bad balls and kept out the good ones before Stephens hoisted spinner Nicole Blaxland (3-35) to long-off.

A change in the batting order saw Oscar Windebank (33) join Squires at the crease and the pair put on 53, with Windebank hitting two massive sixes. Windebank and Squires went in successive balls, and Chris Russell and Steve Gibson both came and went cheaply.

Jack Butcher (10) and his brother Mark Butcher (28 not out) put the St Cross bowlers under pressure, but Harvey Baker and Mark Holloway were both dismissed by opening bowler Elliott Gray (2-27). Andy Butcher (12 not out) and son Mark took Petersfield to another batting point as they finished 34 runs short on 175-8.
