Petersfield II v Kerala: BOTTOM of the table Petersfield hosted second in the table Kerala on a bright Saturday with the hope of causing an upset.
Kerala openers Prasad Panikar (12) and Jose Paul (76) put on 31 for the first wicket before Panikar hit a drive to Petersfield skipper Chris Russell at mid-off.
Roni Thankachan scored 26 off just 20 balls but he was out in exactly the same way as Panikar with the score on 69 to give Rob Allerston (2-55) his second wicket.
Keeper Baiju Kurian (43) put on 58 with Paul before Kurian edged Jack Butcher (2-31) behind with the score on 127 after a rain break as the heavens opened and an early tea was taken to get the game completed. Petersfield then took wickets at regular intervals with only Paul showing any resistance. Chris Wood (2-27) and Russell (2-31) bowled tightly and Nathan Barlow (2-3) cleaned up the tail as Petersfield restricted Kerala to 230 all out.
Petersfield rejigged their batting order but Barlow got a grubber as he was bowled from the second delivery of the innings. Hastie lasted a bit longer but was out for ten with the score on 20.
Dave Squires (11) was next out with the score on 48-3, and Ash Spencer (18) got another grubber to be bowled by Nimal Valsan (4-17). Petersfield then lost their next four wickets for just 17 runs.
Russell (34) was joined by vice-skipper Rich Stephens (19) and the pair put on 54 for the ninth wicket before Russell was bowled by Thankachan. Allerston was then dismissed and Petersfield were all out for 123.
