Petersfield II v Knowle Village: PETERSFIELD’S second team won by three wickets at home to Knowle Village in Regional Division 2 South East of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday.

Steve Gibson won the toss and chose to field first.

The first wicket fell with the score on 15 when Gibson (2-17) removed Matthew Fisk (four) caught in the covers by Paul Clarke. Oscar Maclean (1-8) then dismissed S Izzard (ten), forcing him to chop on to his off stump.

Alex Rae (14) and Sam Rogan (25) hit some good shots down the ground before Dave Squires (2-27) removed Rae caught in the deep by Gibson. Petersfield kept it tight with some good bowling from Omar Iqbal (2-13) and Mark Holloway (2-7), and Iqbal removed Rogan with an inswinging yorker.

Krunal Patel? (11) and ?James Shrubb? (16) hit some nice shots to push the score along, but Heather Clarke (1-15) had Chris Bevis (two) caught in the covers by P Clarke and Gibson removed Shrubb as Knowle Village were bowled out for 105.

Petersfield’s innings got off to the worst possible start as Squires was bowled third ball by Patel? (2-17) for a duck.

John Windebank (28) and Nathan Barlow (46) put on 81 for the second wicket to take Petersfield to within 25 of victory. P Clarke (16) came in and supported Barlow, but both fell in quick succession.

This prompted a mini collapse as Maclean fell for four and David Longland and Iqbal followed for ducks to leave Petersfield on 104-7.

Holloway (two not out) came in and hit the two runs needed to seal victory.
