Petersfield II v Steep II: PETERSFIELD skipper Frank Straw decided to bat first as the opposition skipper called wrong on a very hot and humid day.
Dave Squires (31) had a new opening partner in Chris Wood (70). The pair put on an opening stand of 118, with Wood looking in a ruthless mood as anything short on leg stump was dispatched.
Jhon Cosgrove (3-21) came on and broke the partnership, trapping Wood plum in front of middle stump.
Squires was caught at mid-wicket as he mistimed a full toss straight up in the air, and Rory Newman (four) also fell to a Cosgrove full toss.
Will Jameson (17) put on 20 for the fourth wicket with Andy Butcher (22) before Jameson was trapped leg before wicket by Ellis. Jack Butcher (three) was caught at mid-off and skipper Straw (nine) came and went.
Rich Stephens (19 not out) and Omar Iqbal (six not out) put on 29 in five overs to get Petersfield to 207-7.
Petersfield removed Callingham (two) in the seventh over when Iqbal’s cutter (1-12) took out off stump, and Wood removed opener Gareth Dale (16). Steep lost their third wicket with the score on 52 when Kiddle (six) was well taken by Andy Butcher off Steve Gibson (1-37). Mike Burkie (11) hit some lusty blows, and Bugh (21) and Ellis (70) put on 53 in six overs.
Ellis was the eighth man out as he was caught by Rory Newman off Dan May (4-31), who had also bowled Will Yates for a duck in the same over. Stephens (1-22) then trapped Cosgrove in front of middle stump as Steep were bowled out for 153.
