Old Tauntonians & Romsey III v Liss: LISS continued their winning streak with a ten-wicket victory away at Old Tauntonians and Romsey’s third team on Saturday.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first.
Opening bowler Shaun Blanks struck in the third over when he had Longland caught by Phil Moore for two. Blanks struck again in the ninth over with Dan Dillon-Thiselton catching Wathen for 14.
A partnership of 71 was then formed by the home side before Slade was stumped for 48 off in-form bowler Jacob Hedicker.
Dillon-Thiselton picked up the next wicket, with a fine catch from Gavin Kemp, leaving the hosts on 107-4.
Hedicker (3-31) then took two more wickets to put the home side on 113-6.
Moore (2-13) struck twice in his second over to take the hosts to 152-8. Youngsters Darnton and Longland added 23 valuable runs to the board before openers Blanks (3-25) and Liam Charles were brought back on and bowled the hosts out for 177.
Toby Austin and Richard Pleace opened the batting for Liss and set about their task straight away.
Inconsistent bowling from the hosts helped Liss accelerate towards their target, with the visitors scoring 67 off the first ten overs.
Pleace continued to punish the home side’s bowlers and reached his half-century with ease. Austin also reached his half-century, and the pair met the victory target in the 27th over.
Austin finished on 55 not out and Pleace on 88 not out.
