Binsted v Hawkley: HAWKLEY travelled to Binsted looking forward to an uninterrupted day’s cricket.
The home side won the toss and chose to bat first. After a subdued start Binsted’s opening pairing of Knight and Krempel began to accelerate and registered a century stand in the 20th over.
Knight was well caught in the deep by Liam Lloyd for 45 off the bowling of James Pringle, but Krempel continued his assault on the Hawkley bowlers until retiring undefeated on 101. Binsted’s middle order carried on the attack and the hosts finished on an imposing 274-3 off their 35 overs.
Hawkley’s reply began slowly, and they lost wickets steadily with only Mark Hibberd (20) and Magan Singodia (16) reaching double figures in the top order. Lloyd counter-attacked and struck a well-composed 60 before he was bowled by Mitchell. Paul Cross contributed a hard-hitting 34, but Hawkley finished on 175-9 to lose by 99 runs.
