Petersfield II v Rotherwick ITW: PETERSFIELD won the toss and chose to bat first.

Opening batsmen Dave Squires (43) and Chris Russell (57) put on 80 for the first wicket before Squires misjudged the length of a ball from Hooper (1-36) and was stumped.

Steve Gibson came in at three but only lasted a few balls before he was trapped leg before wicket for three by opposition skipper Paul Buckingham (1-24).

Mark Butcher (39 not out) joined Russell and the pair added 22 runs before Russell was well caught at deep mid-wicket by Adam Cordery.

Fergus Evans was bowled for a golden duck by a fine inswinger from John Holder (1-27), and Rob Allerston retired hurt after trying to sweep Morris (1-31) and getting a top edge into his chin.

David Evans (17 not out) joined Butcher and the pair put on 55 as they took the hosts to 176-4 off 40 overs.

Opening bowlers Gibson (0-18) and Allerston (1-21) bowled tightly, and Allerston removed Hooper for two.

The first 14 overs went for just 30 runs, but a 71-run partnership from the next 13 overs switched the momentum of the game towards Rotherwick. Buckingham (71 not out) and Terry (40) scored freely until Terry misjudged a sweep and got a top edge which was caught by keeper Butcher.

The wicket gave Petersfield hope but Holder (24) and Buckingham formed another good partnership. Ed Bayliss (2-29) took two wickets, but Cordery (ten not out) saw the visitors home with three overs to spare.
