Petersfield II v Froxfield II: PETERSFIELD’S second team took the bragging rights as they beat Froxfield’s seconds at the Heath on Saturday.
For the second week running running Petersfield won the toss and opted to bat first in good conditions.
Openers Fergus Evans (42) and Chris Salmon (134) started steadily and rotated the strike well and hit the loose balls to the boundary.
Higgins (1-31) had F Evans caught behind in the 27th over when he tried to turn the ball down the leg side.
James Longland (11) immediately looked settled, but he was trapped leg before wicket by Hiscock (1-26).
This brought Paddy May (30 not out) to the crease, who played a powerful innings and allowed Salmon to reach his century off 88 balls. The pair upped the run rate before Salmon was caught at mid-off.
P May continued his big hitting as Petersfield finished on 258-4 at the end of their allotted 40 overs.
Froxfield got off to a flying start in their chase before Heather Clarke (1-37) dismissed opener Patabendi (26) in the seventh over.
Griffiths (72) was finding the boundary with ease and new partner Higgins (42) hit some big sixes, which put Petersfield under pressure.
After a spell of good bowling from Longland, Dan Evans took two fine catches to remove both batsmen, one off F Evans (1-48) and the other off Jack Hilton (1-26).
With ten overs left Froxfield needed 80 runs, but Dan May removed Charles for 23 as Froxfield finished on 220-4.
