Compton & Chandler’s Ford v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team returned to winning ways with a four-wicket victory at Compton and Chandler’s Ford on Saturday in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League.

The home side batted first and scored a competitive 180-9 off their allotted 45 overs.

Andrew Gorty (43) top scored for Compton and Chandler’s Ford, while Dominic Carson (4-31), Keith Gumbe (2-25), Damian Carson (1-17), Ben Turk (1-25) and Dave Marshall (1-41) were all in the wickets for Petersfield.

Petersfield’s reply got off to a shaky start as Damian Carson fell for six to leave the visitors 18-1.

Petersfield were then 43-2 when Dominic Carson was dismissed for 15.

Archie Norris and Henry Shore broke the back of the run chase with a 71-run partnership for the third wicket, before Norris fell for 48.

Ben Turk (12) and Alex Thomas (11) both made solid contributions, before Andy Barnes blasted 25 not out off 11 balls to see Petersfield home to the victory.

Shore finished on 47 not out as Petersfield knocked off the runs with four overs to spare.
