Purbrook II v Froxfield: FROXFIELD returned to winning ways with a fine bowling and fielding display helping them to a 36-run victory against Purbrook’s second team in County Division 4 South of the Hampshire Cricket League.

Froxfield skipper Jordan Hiscock won the toss and batted first but the visitors stuttered to 26-4 before J Hiscock (38) and Keiron Turner (15) combined to put on 64 together to get the innings back on track.

J Hiscock and Turner both fell in quick succession and it was left to the reliable Kevin Hiscock (23 not out) to get the away team to a defendable total.

K Hiscock put on handy partnerships of 24 with Kieran Finley and 17 with Steve Singleton to get Froxfield up to a respectable total of 138 all out.

Froxfield needed to keep it tight in the field and take regular wickets if they were to come out on top and they made the perfect start as J Hiscock (3-18) and Singleton (1-18) restricted Purbrook to 28-4 from 16 overs.

After some brief resistance spinner Hallam Brown (3-26) made a crucial breakthrough with a caught and bowled.

K Hiscock (3-12) then came into the attack and had three batsman caught expertly on the long-on boundary by Aaron Stewart, as K Hiscock and Brown polished off the middle and lower order.

The home side were bowled out for 102 as Froxfield won by 36 runs.

Purbrook’s second team had only lost one game prior to this match.
