Steep v IBM Hursley: STEEP continued their 100 per cent record with a solid five-wicket win at home to newly promoted IBM Hursley.
Skipper Smith invited the opposition to bat first on a hot day, and IBM Hursley’s innings was left in tatters when the home side twice took two wickets in an over.
Fred Hughes-Stanton (3-29) nipped two out, including the dangerous Pollard (29), and then winter addition Stuey Smith (5-13) struck twice in an over, with James Kiddle taking a fine catch.
This was Smith’s second five-wicket haul in two weeks, and it helped dismiss the visitors for a below par score of 151.
Steep’s innings got off to a steady start as Smith and Hughes (34) went about putting the bad balls away.
Knight (50) then joined Hughes at the crease and the two calmly went about their business, taking the game away from the IBM attack. When Knight was finally dismissed Bone joined Hughes at the crease and his 22-ball 41 helped to win the game quickly.
A few late wickets meant Steep dropped one point. However, with three wins from three Steep will travel to Steeple Langford next week full of confidence.
