Steep II v Petersfield II: STEEP’S second team claimed the bragging rights with a 35-run victory at home to Petersfield’s second team in County Division 4 South of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday afternoon.

John Hegan (59), Tom Callingham (34), Gareth Dale (25 not out) and Colin Baty (23) were the key contributors with the bat for the home side, who scored 181-6 off their allotted 45 overs.

Rich Stephens and Chris Russell both took two wickets each for Petersfield, and Rob Allerston and Oscar MacLean both took one wicket each.

Russell (46 not out), Jake Hastie (31), Stephens (27) and Allerston (12) were the only Petersfield batsmen to reach double figures, and the visitors were bowled out for 146 in the 43rd over.

The win takes Steep’s second team up to 11th place in the County Division 4 South table, while Petersfield’s second team are at the bottom of the league in 17th place.
