Hawkley v Twelfth Men: HAWKLEY won the toss and chose to bat first on a baking hot afternoon on Sunday.

Hawkley’s Aaron Stewart was quickly off the mark with an exhibition of aggressive batting that took the home side’s score rapidly to 50 in the first ten overs.

However, while Stewart prospered others struggled and a succession of Hawkley batsmen returned to the pavilion having made little impact on the scoreboard.

Stewart reached his personal half-century and was shortly afterwards bowled by Harvey.

Thereafter only Barry Allison reached double figures and after Stewart’s 60 the next highest contribution was extras with 22 as Hawkley finished on 114 all out.

The Twelfth Men began chasing their modest target at a fine pace and the Hawkley bowlers struggled to make an impact.

Hallam Brown and Nick Hudson each claimed a wicket but could not slow the scoring rate.

The Twelfth Men reached their victory target in the 22nd over with opening batsmen Le Clercq undefeated on 55 as the visitors secured a comfortable eight-wicket win.
