Chawton v Petersfield: PETERSFIELD’S first team won by 32 runs at Chawton in County Division 3 North of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday afternoon.

Petersfield’s innings got off to a shaky start as openers Henry Shore (one) and Jake Hastie (four) both fell cheaply to leave the visitors on 17-2.

Jake Wrenn (11), Dave Marshall (27) and Chris Russell (21) rebuilt the innings, but Guy Charlton (3-33) and Simon Pitt (2-22) then reduced the visitors to 86-7.

Frank Straw (61 not out) and Christie Salmon (24 not out) turned the innings around as Petersfield scored 181-8 off their allotted 45 overs.

Hane Mai (1-19) and Salmon (2-28) both took an early wicket each to leave Chawton struggling on 6-2. Jacob Channon (74) got the hosts back on track, before Salmon returned to dismiss him.

Straw (3-29) then ran through the lower order as Chawton were bowled out for 149 in the 37th over.
