Liss II v Hook & Newnham Basics V: LISS’ second team beat Hook and Newnham Basics’ fifth team by 19 runs on Saturday afternoon in Regional Division 3 North East of the Hampshire Cricket League.

Liss batted first and made 173-7 from their 42 overs. Tom Townsend carried his bat for 96 not out, and young Sam Waine also impressed and scored 17 while putting on an important partnership with Townsend.

In reply, Liss took command with Evans taking three wickets and Baker taking two wickets in their opening spells. Feargrieve also came into the attack and picked up two quick wickets to leave the Hook score at 100-8.

However, the game went right down to the wire with young Ed Sargent nearly guiding his team to victory with 34 to take the score to 154-8. Two quick wickets from Chris Hedicker wrapped up the Hook innings to secure a narrow 19-run victory for Liss.
