Petersfield v Andover: PETERSFIELD Cricket Club’s first team lost by three wickets at home to Andover on Saturday afternoon in County Division 2 of the Hampshire Cricket League.
The home side batted first and got off to a good start as openers Frank Straw and Chris Wood put on 58 for the first wicket before captain Straw was bowled by Olly Cox for 37. Wood and Ben Turk then took Petersfield to a promising position at 116-1, before Wood was dismissed for 31.
Tom Sherry fell for a duck, and Ben Anscombe (eight) and Paddy May (nine) both fell cheaply, but Turk was unperturbed and went past his half-century.
Oscar Amis added a useful 26 and Turk finished on 91 not out as Petersfield scored 219-6 off their allotted 45 overs.
Andover openers Shaun Attwood and Martin Roberts put on 62 for the first wicket to take the sting out of the run chase, before Straw (2-46) made the breakthrough and bowled Roberts for 28.
Wood (4-39) claimed the key wicket of Attwood for 62 as the visitors slipped to 181-7, but Richard Taylor (20 not out) and Robbie Taylor (17 not out) knocked off the remaining 39 runs with eight balls to spare.
