Waverley won by five wickets at Medstead.

Medstead got off to a flying start, with openers Ben Trepess and Gareth Phillips putting on 139 before Phillips retired for 105.

Waverley fought back through Adam Carmichael (two for 34) and Finley Upward (two for 16), before Andy du Gay (two for 33) bowled Trepess for 66.

Jonty Denton scored 13 not out as Medstead finished on 226 for six at the end of their allotted 35 overs.

Waverley openers Sam Tempest (25) and Wayne Torrey (50) got the visitors’ run chase off to a promising start, before Jordan Hays (three for 32) took three quick wickets to leave Waverley on 47 for three.

Simon Brewer joined Torrey at the crease and the pair added 143 for the fourth wicket before Torrey was bowled by Trepess.

Brewer retired for 103, and it was left to Will Knox (eight not out) and Du Gay (four not out) to see Waverley home.
