Purbrook v Elsted: PURBROOK batted first and got off to a fine start through Hamson and Michel, who put on 40 runs for the first wicket before Ollie Simpson bowled Hamson for 22.
Jordan Bates bowled McKenzie, but Holder and Michel rallied for Purbrook. With steady rain falling, Elsted had to contend with a wet ball.
Michel duly completed a fine half century before retiring. Warrender dismissed Dean cheaply, but Holder was very severe on the Elsted bowlers and finished on 70 not out as Purbrook scored 183-4 off their allotted 35 overs.
When Elsted batted they quickly lost both openers for seven runs.
The persistent rain got heavier but both carried on in adverse conditions.
Young Danny Zaman and Simpson rallied for Elsted and added 76 runs before Simpson was caught for 36. Jake Wadey came to the crease and kept up the tempo, while Zaman duly completed a fine half century.
The weather did not deter either batsman and they kept going for victory, and this was duly achieved as Elsted ran out winners by seven wickets with two balls to spare.
Zaman finished on 89 not out (seven fours), while Wadey scored 41 not out (three fours).
