Petersfield Ladies 2 New Forest Ladies II 2: PETERSFIELD Ladies had to settle for a share of the spoils from their match against New Forest Ladies’ second team at Dunhurst School on Saturday.
Petersfield started well and were awarded a penalty flick in the first ten minutes. Captain Easton stepped forward and scored the first goal for Petersfield as she flicked the ball above the goalkeeper’s left pad.
The game was played at a high intensity and the teams were evenly matched.
Both sides made some promising attacking breaks, and their goalkeepers were challenged to save shots from all areas within the D.
Petersfield scored their second goal when an attacking run from Bardoe and Beaton up the left combined with O’Kelly’s run.
O’Kelly drew the defenders in and slipped the ball to the right of the keeper for Easton to flick up into the net and give Petersfield a 2-0 lead at half time.
The second half was also played at a high intensity as both teams battled hard.
Petersfield were pushing to improve their goal difference in the league and kept on attacking, but, once again, a lack of substitutes hindered the team’s fitness.
The visitors took advantage and scored two goals as the match finished as a 2-2 draw.
Nevertheless Petersfield were still pleased with the result after producing a strong team performance.
Petersfield Ladies are on the road this Saturday and will travel to Trojans Ladies’ fourth team (10am).
